We are currently working exclusively with a family run, reputable Engineering Company that are Machining and fabrication specialists based in Cardiff.

They are seeking a skilled and experienced Centre Lathe Turner to join their busy engineering workshop in Cardiff. As a Centre Lathe Turner, you will play a vital role in their manufacturing process, contributing to the production of high-quality components and parts for a variety of industries but mainly within steel.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and set up Centre Lathes to produce precision components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and job requirements.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
  • Machine components to tight tolerances, ensuring accuracy and quality standards are met.
  • Monitor and adjust machine settings to optimize performance and ensure efficient production.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during the machining process.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, such as engineers and other machinists, to discuss job specifications and ensure smooth workflow.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Centre Lathe Turner or similar role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Proficient in operating Centre Lathes and setting up workpieces.
  • Strong knowledge of machining techniques, tool selection, and cutting speeds.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with different materials, such as metals and alloys, and their machining properties.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to tight tolerances.

Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday - 08:00 until 16:30

Friday 08:00 until 15:00

 

Overtime is also available –

Saturdays are paid at time and a half

Sundays are paid a double pay
